City of Shelbyville Announces Bid Invitation for Adams Glass Building Demolition

Shelbyville, Indiana — March 31, 2025 — The City of Shelbyville’s Board of Public Works & Safety is inviting sealed bids for the demolition of the Adams Glass Building, located at 201 South Harrison Street, 13 West Broadway Street, and 15-17 West Broadway Street in Shelbyville, Indiana.

This project involves the demolition and legal disposal of debris from the existing building structure to support future redevelopment in the area.

Bid Overview:

  • Bid Submission Deadline: Monday, April 21, 2025, by 4:00 p.m.
  • Public Bid Opening: Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 8:30 a.m.
  • Location: City Council Chambers, Shelbyville City Hall, 44 W. Washington Street, Shelbyville, IN

Sealed bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the Board of Public Works meeting. Late bids will not be accepted and will be returned unopened.

Pre-Bid Meeting

Interested contractors are encouraged to attend a Pre-Bid meeting and site inspection on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. City representatives will provide access to the building and additional structural details.

Bid Documents

Copies of the contract bid documents may be obtained starting Tuesday, March 31, 2025, at the Shelbyville Clerk-Treasurer’s office, located at Shelbyville City Hall, 44 W. Washington Street, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Electronic copies can also be requested via email at tcomstock@cityofshelbyvillein.com. A $10 nonrefundable fee is required for hard copies.

Submission Requirements

All bids must include the following:

  • Financial statement

  • Statement of experience

  • Proposed plan(s) for performing the work

  • Equipment available for the project

  • Non-collusion affidavit

  • Bid bond or certified check in the amount of 5% of the total bid

Selection and Award

The Board of Public Works & Safety reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids. The contract will be awarded to the lowest and most responsive and responsible bidder. Successful bidders will be required to furnish a Performance & Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of the contract price.

Project Timeline

The selected contractor will receive a "Notice to Proceed" and must begin demolition within five days of receiving the notice. The project must be completed as outlined in the contract documents.
