[ARCHIVED] Shelbyville’s Juneteenth Celebration: A Day For All

SHELBYVILLE, IN - Juneteenth, our nation’s newest holiday, is a time to remember, reflect, and rejoice in freedom.  On June 21, 2025, Shelbyville, Indiana will host our second Juneteenth Celebration from 11 am - 3 pm at Sunset Park. This event is free and open to the public. The day will include music, activities, food trucks and free snow cones.

This event will open with a City proclamation, followed by the Juneteenth welcome and remembrance. The Juneteenth Celebration Singers will sing at 11:30, and FunkSway, a R&B group from Louisville, KY, will perform to highlight the day. The Shelby County Public Library will be on hand with activities. Everyone is invited to bring lawn chairs, picnics and blankets to enjoy the day. Bottled water will be available.

We are proud to celebrate this important day with the support of our amazing community partners and sponsors: Second Baptist Church, God’s Grace International Worship Church, City of Shelbyville Department of Behavioral Health and Equity, Shelbyville Parks Department, Shelby County Public Library, Yushiro Manufacturing America, Shelby County Tourism & Visitors Bureau, Heritage Support Grants provided by the Indiana Historical Society and made possible by Lilly Endowment, Inc.

Grover Center: Museum and Historical Society is operated by the Shelby County Historical Society. It is located at 52 W. Broadway Street, Shelbyville, IN. The museum is free to the public and features 20,000 sq. feet of galleries and exhibits. There are three rotating galleries and three permanent galleries featuring The Streets of Old Shelby, Building Shelby County, and The train room featuring working model trains. The museum is open to the public on Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information about the Grover Center, visit us at www.grovercenter.org.
