CALEA - the gold standard in public safety; Law Enforcement Accreditation; Indiana Law Enforcement A

Welcome to the Shelbyville Police Department website. We are proud to serve a thriving community of just over 20,000 citizens within an area of 11.5 square miles. Our dedicated team responds to approximately 18,000 calls for service annually, reflecting our commitment to professionalism, public safety, and community engagement.

The Shelbyville Police Department is proud to be one of Indiana's fully accredited law enforcement agencies. We hold dual accreditation from both the Commission on Law Enforcement Accreditation (CALEA) and the Indiana Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (ILEAC), demonstrating our commitment to excellence and adherence to the highest standards in policing.

Our department consists of 48 certified officers working across patrol, investigations, and administration. We are further supported by a reserve force that assists with various law enforcement needs. Our civilian staff includes three evidence personnel, two administrative secretaries, and a CALEA manager who ensures our compliance with national and state accreditation standards.

Shelby County is served by two primary law enforcement branches: the Shelbyville Police Department and the Shelby County Sheriff's Department. Both agencies share space at the Shelby County Criminal Justice Center, located at 107 W. Taylor Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176, fostering collaboration to meet the needs of our community effectively.

We are committed to providing exceptional service, building trust, and ensuring the safety and security of all residents. Thank you for your support as we continue to protect and serve Shelbyville.
