Board of Zoning Appeals

Overview

The Board of Zoning Appeals is a local body whose responsibilities are to hear (1) petitions for development standards variances, (2) petitions for use variances, (3) petitions for special exception uses, and (4) appeals of decisions, orders, and interpretations of the zoning administrator.

Duties

The BZA is charged with the following responsibilities:

  • Hear and decide on applications for a variance from the provisions of the zoning and subdivision ordinance;
  • Hear and decide on applications for an appeal of an administrative interpretation of the zoning ordinance; and
  • Conduct other business specifically assigned to the Board of Zoning Appeals by ordinance, City Council order or State statute.
